Attack On Heyden Home Owner

OPP were called to a Heyden home on Saturday night after a group of four people attacked a Heyden man in front of his house.

On Saturday evening at about 8:00 p.m. the victim witnessed two dirt bikes traveling at high speeds and pulling wheelies along Rupert Acres Drive. The victim approached the two dirt bike drivers and advised them that he was concerned about the safety of local children and that the two were not allowed to drive like that in that area.

The two bikers left the area but then returned with one extra person on another dirt bike and a forth person on an ATV. They rode up onto the man’s front yard and a confrontation took place.

The four off road riders punched and kicked the man until he fell to the ground. They continued to punch and kick the man as he lay on the ground. The victim had a chair broken over him and concrete block thrown on him. When the spouse of the victim attempted to call police she too was attacked by the four and the phone was punched out of her hand.

When neighbours saw what was happening they came to the assistance of the two victims. The four assailants eventually fled the area. A women who witnessed the assault located the ATV at a tavern in Heyden. She noticed the keys in the ATV and she took the keys in attempt to keep the suspects at the scene. The four then attacked the woman in front of the tavern.

The four assailants fled the area on their off road vehicles and haven’t been seen since. The male victim in the first assault was taken to Sault and Area Hospital by ambulance. He was treated for cuts to the head, bruising and other injuries and later released from the hospital.
