ASSAULT LANDS SAULT STE MARIE MAN OVERNIGHT STAY IN JAIL
Heyden, Ont.,

An assault on a woman Friday night landed a Sault Ste Marie man in jail for the night.

On Friday at about 11:00 p.m. officers from Sault Ste Marie OPP were called to a Heyden home after the woman called police for assistance. Upon arrival at the home the officers were advised that the woman had been assaulted and that the suspect had fled the home.

The suspect was located hiding in a snow bank near the house and was taken into custody. He was held in custody until mid Saturday and released pending his court appearance in late March.

Thirty-year-old John Tyler Morrin of Sault Ste Marie is charged with assault and threatening death. His court appearance is March 25 2002.
