STOLEN TRUCK RECOVERED (Elliot Lake, Ontario) March 29, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. police were notified of a possible stolen vehicle from Bouck Road in the city of Elliot Lake.
STOLEN TRUCK RECOVERED

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) March 29, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. police were notified of a possible stolen vehicle from Bouck Road in the city of Elliot Lake. Police attended the residence of the victim and learned that sometime during the night unknown person(s) stole a truck from the driveway of the residence. The vehicle is a 2006 White Chevrolet Silverado 4-wheel drive truck.

At 11:04 a.m. the same day, police were advised of a suspicious vehicle behind the Adult Education Centre on Roman Avenue in Elliot Lake. Police attended the scene and confirmed the vehicle was in deed the stolen truck. There was minimal damage to the truck.

VEHICLE SCRATCHED OR KEYED

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) Police are currently investigating a report of a vehicle being damaged by a sharp object.

Police learned that sometime between March 27th, 2009 at approximately 5:30 a.m., and March 28th, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. unknown person(s) scratched or keyed a dark grey Impala parked at 3 Washington Crescent.

TRAFFIC STOP NETS CHARGES FOR LOCAL MALE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) March 29th, 2009 while on general patrol, an officer of the East Algoma OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 108 just south of Depot Lake for speeding.

Investigation revealed that the driver did not possess a valid drivers licence. While investigating police located drugs in the vehicle.

Charged with Possession of Drugs is Bradley Elwood DAVIDSON (49) of Elliot Lake. DAVIDSON is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on May 5th, 2009. DAVIDSON was a passenger of the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Speeding and Driving a Motor Vehicle without a licence.

DUNE BUGGY OPERATOR CHARGED AFTER FLEEING POLICE

(SPANISH, ON.) – A Webbwood man has been charged with various Highway Traffic Act offences after trying to evade police on his dune buggy in Spanish on Friday night.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on the March 28th officers from the East Algoma OPP detachment observed a dune buggy travelling on John Street in Spanish. The operator and his two passengers were not wearing helmets at the time. Constable COOKE activated the police cruiser’s emergency lights. The driver stopped for a second then sped off, accelerating up to speeds of 90 km/h. A second officer arrived and attempted to intercept and fleeing vehicle. He was unsuccessful but was able to get the licence plate and identify the driver. Police followed the dune buggy until it entered an area where the cruiser was unable to go. Police records indicated that the dune buggy was registered to Dale LEESON of Webbwood.
The two officers patrolled the area for over two hours looking for the suspect vehicle without success even though the distinct sound of the Polaris dune buggy could still be heard throughout the area. Through their investigation police received information as to the whereabouts of the dune buggy and operator. At 3:00 a.m. police attended a residence in Spanish and identified one of the occupants as the registered owner and operator of the dune buggy.
As a result of Constable Cooke’s relentless search for the dune buggy thirty (30) year old Dale LEESON of Webbwood is charged with the following offence under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario and will appear in Provincial Offences Court in Blind River on June 15, 2009.

- Drive off-road vehicle-fail to wear proper helmet.
- Unlawfully drive off-road vehicle on a highway.
- Fail to stop for police.


BAIL VIOLATION

(CHAPLEAU.) – On March 28, 2009 at 1:54 am Chapleau OPP had occasion to check a male subject in the Town of Chapleau. The officers noted a smell of alcohol on the subject’s breath. Investigation revealed that he was on probation with a condition to abstain from consuming alcohol. It was also discovered that he was in possession of what appeared to be marihuana. As a result, Cameran Joseph PLOURDE, age 19 of Chapleau stands charged with;
(1) Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
(2) Possess cannabis marihuana contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.
Mr PLOURDE will appear in Chapleau criminal court on May 27, 2009.

POSSESS PROHIBITED WEAPON

(WHITE RIVER.) – On March 28, 2009 at 1:40 pm White River OPP stopped a white Cube Van at White River. A check of the male revealed he had been previously released in Alberta on a Recognizance and was not to possess any knife or edged weapons. As a result of further investigation the subject advised the officers that he had a knife in his possession which turned out to be a switch blade. Raymond SIMARD, age 59 of Havloc, New Brunswick has been charged with:
(1) Possess Prohibited Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
(2) Fail to Comply with Recognizance by possessing a prohibited weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Mr SIMARD is scheduled to appear in Wawa criminal court on June 8, 2009.

R.I.D.E.

As a result of RIDE checks, 113 vehicles were checked by Superior East officers with one Highway Traffic Act charge being laid. No other infractions were noted.
