JOINT PATOLS YIELD LIQUOR INFRACTIONS

(Jarvis Township, Ont.) On Friday, the 14th March 2008 the Ontario Provincial Police Traffic and Marine Unit and the Ministry of Natural Resources Conservation Officers teamed up for some joint enforcement snow machine patrols.

Three Liquor License Act charges were laid on three drivers. One for having liquor in open container in other than licensed premises, and two for Persons under 19 having liquor.

RIDE SPOT CHECKS RESULT IN DRUG CHARGES


(Aweres Township, Ont.) While conducting RIDE spot checks on Saturday the 15th March 2008, officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Traffic and Marine Unit checked a vehicle on Trout Lake Road at around 9:30 pm.

A small quantity of drugs was seized from the driver. Charged under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act is 26 year old James Rodney SHARPE of 43 Churchill Avenue, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Another vehicle checked on Trout Lake Road around 10:30 pm resulted in the odour of freshly burned cannabis resin detected from inside the vehicle.

A small quantity of Cannabis was seized from the driver. Charged under the Controlled Drug and Substances Act is 35 year old Jason Addison of 112 Farquhar Street in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Vehicle In Snow Bank Leads to Impaired Charge

(Highway 638, Garden River First Nation Territory) On Sunday, the16th March, 2008 at approximately 2:15 am officers from the Sault Ste. Marie OPP detachment were advised of a single motor vehicle in the snow bank on the north side of the highway.

Upon Police arrival it was determined by witnesses at the scene that the driver had been requesting the assistance of passing motorists to get him out of the ditch. Further investigation revealed that the driver was showing obvious signs of impairment.

The driver, 48 year old Robert LAROCQUE OF 564 Wellington St. West, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with Impaired Driving, Driving with over 80 milligrams Of Alcohol, and Driving while Disqualified.

LAROQUE is to appear in bail court on Monday, 17th March, 2008.

Theft of Fuel

(Blind River, Ont.) Sometime overnight on Tuesday 11 March 2008 approximately $600.00 worth of diesel fuel was stolen from a transport truck parked in an industrial area on the east end of Blind River.

The truck had been parked at around 5:00 p.m. and when the driver returned at about 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning he noticed the cap on the fuel tank had been disturbed.
Stolen from the cab of the truck were two radios. One satellite radio and one two-way radio valued at a few hundred dollars.

Tire tracks and footwear impressions were located in the area.
