SUSPENDED DRIVERS CHARGED (CHAPLEAU, ON) – On March 12, 2010 at 1:10pm Superior East OPP in Chapleau had occasion to check a 1994 GMC Sierra on Beech Street. The driver was identified as Gerald AUDET age 54 of TIMMINS, Ontario.
SUSPENDED DRIVERS CHARGED

(CHAPLEAU, ON) – On March 12, 2010 at 1:10pm Superior East OPP in Chapleau had occasion to check a 1994 GMC Sierra on Beech Street. The driver was identified as Gerald AUDET age 54 of TIMMINS, Ontario. A check of Mr AUDET’S Ontario driver’s licence revealed that it was suspended. He will appear in court in Chapleau on June 9, 2010 to answer to the charge of Drive Motor Vehicle While Under Suspension contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

(HORNEPAYNE, ON) – On March 13, 2009 Superior East OPP in Hornepayne observed a green Ford Escape driving quite slowly on Highway 631 near Roundhouse Road. The vehicle was stopped and the male driver spoken to. Investigation revealed that Warren GAUDREAU age 32 of HORNEPAYNE, Ontario was suspended from driving. A summons was issued and the accused will appear in Provincial Offences Court in Hornepayne on May 17, 2010

DRIVING WITHOUT A DRIVER’S LICENCE

(CHAPLEAU, ON) – On March 13, 2010 as 9:30am Chapleau OPP stopped a 2003 Buick on Highway 129 for a speeding infraction. The driver, Amanda MARTIN age 23 of MEAFORD, Ontario was found to be operating a motor vehicle with no Driver’s Licence. She was subsequently issued a Provincial Offence Notice for Operate a Motor Vehicle Without a Driver’s Licence contrary to the Ontario Highway Traffic Act.

LOCAL MALE CHARGED BY POLICE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On March 13, 2010 at approximately 2:25 a.m. officers of the East Algoma OPP attended a residence on Hutchison Avenue regarding a possible unwanted person.

On scene police learned that the subject had been at the residence earlier in the evening and had been asked to leave by the owner. Later, the subject allegedly returned to the residence and attempted to gain entrance by kicking the front door.

Charged with the following is Robert Charles CROSSMAN (31) of Elliot Lake.

Mischief Under $5,000.0 and Breach of Recognizance

CROSSMAN is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake on May 4, 2010.

TIRE SLASHING INCIDENT BEING INVESTIGATED BY POLICE

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – The East Algoma OPP is currently investigating the possible mischief to a vehicle.

The victim reports that sometime between 8:00 p.m. on March 12, 2010 and 3:00 p.m. on March 13, 2010 unknown person(s) slashed a left tire of his business vehicle. The vehicle is a delivery van and was parked on Charles Walk in Elliot Lake at the time of the incident. The victim also reports that sometime during the previous week another tire was slashed.

Nigerian 419 Scams

A scam that comes in many different forms and has been around for years is known as the Nigerian 419 Scam. This scam takes on many different variations but is always done to get money from the victim. It usually comes in some type of mail form (email or letter) where the person is trying to get your assistance removing large sums of money out of the country where the letter originates after some sort of family death or tragedy. The person contacting you will put you in contact with some sort of government or banking official who will provide you with the info you need to assist them in transferring the large sum of money. For assisting them they will provide you with a certain percentage of the money. All they require is some banking information from you and then some “bribe” money to bribe custom officials. WRONG!
The lure of quick and easy money is always what is used to drag you into their web, don’t respond to these types of requests.

Foreign Lottery Scams

There is also the foreign Lottery scam that tells you your email address or name was attached to such and such a number in the Spanish or some other foreign Lottery …and guess what you’ve won! All we need is your banking information and or money to pay the release on the funds. ”WRONG!"

Breach of Probation

(Garden River First Nation ON) Three youths flagged down a police vehicle on Hwy # 17 B on Garden River at 2:34 a.m. Sunday Morning. One of the youths, a 17 year old female was arrested at the scene for breaching two probations orders which prohibited her from drinking.

Break and Enter

(Fenwick Twp. ON) Sometime overnight a shed at the 900 block of Pineshores rd was entered. A telescope and tripod were taken. The thief also broke the window in a trailer parked in the yard.

Domestic Assault results in Charges

(Havilland Twp, ON) Police were called to a residence on Havilland Shores Rd to investigate a domestic dispute. A 52 year old female was arrested and held for a bail hearing on Monday. She is charged with Assault and uttering threats.
