M.S.S. PROM NIGHT PROVES QUIET

On Friday 06 Jun 2008 Manitoulin OPP reports that the annual Manitoulin Secondary School Prom was extremely quiet. Constable Allan Boyd Community Services Officer for the Manitoulin OPP advises that there were no major incidents that were reported to police during the evening of the prom and the prom party in Kagawong. Constable Boyd states” We knew that there were large number of youth in attendance at the prom party. Officers were on patrol throughout the night and early morning. A number of vehicles were checked and all drivers were sober which we were extremely pleased to see. The combination of the weather and a generator not working for lights and music may have been a contributing factor in the lack of problems at the Kagawong Pit party. I am hoping that the presentation that was made to students by myself at MSS a week earlier and the consequences that could occur may have added to young people making good choices, we can only hope. All in all other than a few students being stranded without rides on Saturday morning all went extremely well”, Boyd added.
