OPP charge male with break and enter ELLIOT LAKE – On June 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. officers from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received a call of a suspicious male on Washington Crescent in Elliot Lake.

ELLIOT LAKE – On June 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. officers from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received a call of a suspicious male on Washington Crescent in Elliot Lake. Officers attended the area and located a residence that had recently been broken into and found the suspect still inside. He was arrested without incident.

Charged is 40 year old Dale Roger BOYER of Elliot Lake. He is charged with two counts of break and enter and failing to comply with a probation order.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On June 29, 2014 at 11:45 p.m., officers from the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 17 (just west of the Vermillion River Bridge) in the City of Greater Sudbury.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a westbound car left the roadway, struck a rock cut and rolled over.

The male driver and lone occupant was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Investigation revealed he was not wearing his seatbelt.

An OPP Collision Reconstructionist and a Technical Traffic Collision Investigator attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation.

The westbound lanes of Highway 17 were closed until 5 a.m. while officers completed their investigation.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
