The Sault detachment of the O.P.P. is looking for assistance in locating those responsible for numerous thefts from vehicles and the stealing of bikes in and around the Echo Bay area. It appears that those responsible have been walking around Echo Bay in the early morning hours stealing from parked unlocked vehicles and sheds. Numerous items have been stolen including tools, stereos and money. Police are asking you to lock your vehicle at night.


MOOSE DESTROYED AFTER COLLISION WITH A TRUCK
Batchawana Bay

On Saturday at 5:30 a.m., the Sault detachment of the O.P.P. investigated an collision between a moose and a tractor-trailer on highway 17 just north of Batchawana Bay. The driver, an Innisville man was not injured although the truck received extensive damage. Police discovered the moose in a ditch with a broken leg and destroyed the animal.
