SHOPLIFTING IS A CRIME (ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police received a call on July 6 th , 2013 at approximately 6:03 p.m. regarding a possible theft from the Beer Store in Elliot Lake.

SHOPLIFTING IS A CRIME

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police received a call on July 6th, 2013 at approximately 6:03 p.m. regarding a possible theft from the Beer Store in Elliot Lake.

On scene, police learned that the suspect had allegedly taken a case of beer without paying and fled the scene.  The complainant advised that the suspect was known to him.

Police immediately patrolled the area for the suspect with negative results.  Later that evening at approximately 9:36 p.m. police located and arrested the suspect.

Charged with Theft Under is Theft Under is Raymond Michael O’CONNELL (46) of Elliot Lake.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on September 3, 2013.

THEFT FROM VEHICLES

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – July 7th, 2013 at approximately 4:55 the OPP received a call of a possible suspicious person going through unlocked vehicles in the Washington Crescent area in Elliot Lake.

Police arrived on scene and located the suspect attempting to hide from police.  The youth was arrested.

Charged with the following is a 13 year old male youth from Elliot Lake.

  •  Theft Under $5,000 (X2)
  •  Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

The youth is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake Youth Court on September 3, 2013.

The OPP would like to remind everyone to roll up your vehicle’s windows and ensure your vehicle is locked at all times.

TRAFFIC STOP NET SEVERAL CHARGES FOR DRIVER AND PASSENGER

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – While on general patrol on July 7th, 2013 at approximately 4:04 p.m. an officer of the East Algoma OPP attempted a traffic stop on Highway 17 in the North Shore Township.

While conducting the traffic stop, it became apparent that the vehicle was attempting to evade police.  The vehicle travelled at varying speeds between 60 to 100kms/h.  Eventually the driver attempted to turn the vehicle around but lost control and slid into the shoulder causing the vehicle to become stuck.  The vehicle was not damage with no injuries to the suspects.  Police arrested both occupants of the vehicle. 

Through investigation police learned that the vehicle had been stolen from the London area. 

Charged with the following is Melissa GUNTON (34) of London, Ontario

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 (X2)
  • Fail to Comply Undertaking (X2)
  • Breach of Probation Order (X2)
  • Possession Schedule 1 – other Drugs

Also charged with the following is the driver Paul Gary Lewis RAYNER (40) of Stratford, Ontario

  • Possession Schedule 1 – other Drugs
  • Flight from Police
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (X2)
  • Breach of Probation (X2)
  • Drive Disqualified
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Both above accused remain in custody awaiting a Bail Hearing in Blind River.

DRIVERS ARRESTED

(Aweres Twp, ON) On July 06th 2013 at 8:45 pm Sault Ste. Marie OPP were conducting general patrol on Hwy 17. A vehicle was stopped and investigation revealed that the driver had been consuming alcohol.

Twenty six year old Robert McGREGOR of Frontenac St, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for court on July 29, 2013.       

(Aweres Twp, ON) On July 06th 2013 at 8:10 pm Sault Ste. Marie OPP responded to traffic complaint regarding a vehicle southbound on Hwy #17.

The vehicle was located by officers and subsequent investigation revealed the driver had been consuming alcohol.  

Thirty nine year old Elia CONROY of Ruth St, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with Drive Motor Vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for court on July 29, 2013.
