STUNT DRIVING (WAWA) – On July 1, 2009 at 1:30 pm officers had occasion to stop a southbound Toyota Tundra on Highway 17 approximately 10 kilometres north of Wawa in Bailloquet Township.

(WAWA) – On July 1, 2009 at 1:30 pm officers had occasion to stop a southbound Toyota Tundra on Highway 17 approximately 10 kilometres north of Wawa in Bailloquet Township. The vehicle entered radar at a speed of 145 kilometres per hour in a posted 90 kilometre zone. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and the driver, Shamsher HOODA, age 40 of Mississauga, Ontario was charged with operating a motor vehicle while performing a stunt contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. The vehicle he was driving was impounded for seven days along with his Ontario Driver’s licence. He is scheduled to appear in Traffic Court on September 17, 2009 to answer to the charge.

Again on July 4, 2009 officers were patrolling Highway 17, Lalibert Township approximately 32 kilometres north of Wawa. A southbound blue Pontiac Grand Am entered radar at a speed of 147 kilometres per hour in a posted 90 kilometre zone. Officers stopped the vehicle driven by a female. As a result of investigation, Rhonda SCAVARELLI, age 38 years of Thunder Bay, Ontario stands charged with operating a motor vehicle while performing a stunt as well as well as operate a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit. The driver’s vehicle was impounded for a seven day period and her Ontario Driver’s Licence was suspended for seven days. She will appear in court on September 17, 2009 in Wawa.

THREE DAY LICENCE SUSPENSION

(WAWA) – On July 3, 2009 officers were conducting a RIDE check on Highway 651 near Missanabie, Ontario. A Ford pickup truck was checked and the female driver was found to have an odour of alcohol on her breath. As a result of a breath test Janice SOULIERE, age 48 of Missanabie, Ontario had her Ontario Driver’s Licence suspended for three days.

R.I.D.E. – Several RIDE checks were conducted throughout the Superior East patrol area resulting in several vehicles being checked.

STOLEN BICYCLE

(Aweres Twp., ON) – A bike was stolen from a residence on Country Lane in Aweres Twp. over the weekend.

It is a Haro stunt bike, turquoise in colour.

VEHICLES ENTERED

(Batchewana First Nation, ON) – A number of vehicles were entered over the weekend on Frontenac St. and Nebenaigoching St. on the Batchewana First Nation.

A satellite radio was taken from one of the vehicles on Negenaigoching St.

FAMILY WORRIED ABOUT MISSING MAN

(Blind River, ON.) – On July 3, 2009 East Algoma OPP Blind River received a call of a missing person from a concerned family member. Jeffrey George FOLZ (44 yrs) came to Blind River intending to spend the summer with family. On June 17 FOLZ went to Sudbury to visit his children. On June 20 he called family members in Blind River advising that he ran out of gas and money so he will have to wait for his next cheque before returning to Blind River. FOLZ has not been heard from since. Family members are concerned for his safety. FOLZ may have been operating a brown 2002 Ford pickup with Ontario licence plate 7432RJ. Police are asking for the publics help. Police are asking anyone who may have seen FOLZ or know of his whereabouts to call them at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

Location: Hwy 546 closed between Hwy 554 and 639.

Reason for the closure: MTO closed road due to wash out.
