RATTLESNAKE RETURNED TO ITS NATURAL HABITAT (Blind River, Ontario) – At approximately 7:30 a.m.

RATTLESNAKE RETURNED TO ITS NATURAL HABITAT          

(Blind River, Ontario) – At approximately 7:30 a.m. on July 21, 2012 the East Algoma OPP in Blind River received a call to attend the local golf course regarding the possible sighting of a rattlesnake.

Police attended the first tee and located the snake.  An officer was able to capture the animal unharmed and the Ministry of Natural Resources was contacted.  The MNR confirmed that the snake was indeed a Mississauga Rattler.  The snake was relocated by the MNR 800 meters south of where it was found in an area not likely to be frequented by people or pets.

The last report of a Mississauga Rattler sighting was back in 1992.

THREE CHARGED AFTER HOME INVASION     

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – July 22nd, 2012 at 9:54 p.m. the East Algoma OPP attended a residence on Spruce Avenue in Elliot Lake regarding a possible home invasion.

Upon arrival police noted the entry door of one of the units to be off the hinges and the door frame broken. Further investigation revealed that the suspects and one of the victims had an altercation earlier in the evening and the suspects returned at a later time to continue the altercation.  The victim entered the residence and the suspects attempted to gain access to the residence by breaking the door down.

Charged with the following is Jacob James MOORE (20) of Elliot Lake

  • Break and Enter with intent to commit the indictable offence of assault (aggravating circumstances – Home Invasion)
  • Assault
  • Breach of Undertaking
  • Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Utter Threat to Damage Property

The above accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie.

Also charged with the following is a 15-year-old male of Elliot Lake.

  • Assault
  • Break and Enter with intent to commit the indictable offence of assault (aggravating circumstances – Home Invasion)

The name of the male youth will not be released.  He is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake youth court on September 4, 2012.

Charged with the following is Steven Albert Ernest WHITE (20) of Elliot Lake.

  • Break and Enter with intent to commit the indictable offence of assault (aggravating circumstances – Home Invasion)
  • Assault
  • Breach of Probation

The above accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie.
