STOLEN SEARCH AND RESCUE TRAILERS RECOVERED

On the 13th of July 2007 shortly after midnight, the Ontario Provincial Police received information from Sault Ste Marie Police Department that two white closed tandem trailers had been stolen from their storage location. The trailers belonged to the Sault Search and Rescue Unit. Members of Sault Ste Marie OPP, while on patrol and looking for the trailers, stopped a vehicle that had turned from Trout Lake Road onto Highway 17. The driver, SAMUEL STEVENS, 24, of Aweres Twp, was not only found to be a suspended driver but also wanted on an outstanding warrant by Sault Ste Marie Police Dept. In addition, STEVENS led the officers to three locations where there was stolen property, of which were the two stolen trailers. STEVENS was turned over to the Sault Ste Marie Police Dept with respect to their investigation of the theft of the trailers. A warrant has been issued for a second person involved.

DRIVER FAILS TO HEED “DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE” MESSAGE

On the 15th of July, 2007, members of the Ontario Provincial Police, were conducting a RIDE checkstop at the corner of Hwy 552 and Old Goulais Bay Road. At approx 1:40 a.m., the driver of a vehicle stopped was found to have consumed alcohol. TONY BRUNETTA, 37, of Beaumont Trailer Park, Aweres Twp, was arrested and has been charged with the operation of a motor vehicle over 80 mgs.

STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED

On the 15th of July, 2007 at approx 8:02 a.m., members of the Sault Ste Marie OPP Detachment were dispatched to the theft of gasoline from the Canadian Agawa Indian Carver Store, located on Highway 17, Pancake Bay. The vehicle was followed by an off duty Sault Ste Marie OPP officer. At approx 8:20 a.m., an on duty member of the Sault Ste Marie OPP Det observed the vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was pulled over. The officer learned that the vehicle was in fact stolen from Calgary. A male, KYLE DAVID BAILEY, 26, of no fixed address and MELISSA ANN GRIFFEN, 26, of no fixed address were arrested and charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000. The suspects indicated it was their intent to drive to New Brunswick with the stolen vehicle. Both are being held pending a bail hearing Monday, 16 July 2007.

UNRULY MALE CHARGED

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On Friday July 13, 2007 at approximately 11:50 pm, members of the East Algoma Elliot Lake Detachment responded to the Elliot Lake Sharpshooters Club regarding a male that was behaving in an unruly manner.

Tracey James MARSOLAIS (38) of Sudbury, Ontario has been charged with Breach of Recognizance (X3).

MARSOLAIS is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on September 4, 2007.

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On Friday July 13, 2007 at approximately 11:50 pm, members of the East Algoma Elliot Lake Detachment responded to the Elliot Lake Sharpshooters Club regarding a male that was behaving in an unruly manner.

Tracey James MARSOLAIS (38) of Sudbury, Ontario has been charged with Breach of Recognizance (X3).

MARSOLAIS is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on September 4, 2007.

COPPER WIRE STOLEN

(Mississauga First Nation, Ontario) On Friday July 13, 2007 the East Algoma Blind River OPP were contacted regarding a theft of copper wire from Hydro One located on Mississauga First Nation, Ontario.

The theft is estimated to be valued at between $3000 - $4000.

The theft occurred between Monday July 9 – Thursday July 12, 2007.

MOUNTAIN BIKE STOLEN

(Blind River, Ontario) On Sunday July 15, 2007 the East Algoma Blind River OPP received a complaint of a stolen mountain bike.

The theft occurred sometime between July 14, 2007 at 9:00 pm and July 15, 2007 at 9:00 pm.

The mountain bike is described as a black mountain bike with blue writing on it.

YOUTH CHARGED WITH MISCHIEF

(Elliot Lake, Ontario) On Saturday July 14, 2007 members of the East Algoma Elliot Lake OPP were dispatched to an occurrence on Hutchinson Avenue, Elliot Lake, Ontario.

A Young Person who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act has been charged with:

Mischief under $5000 and
Obstruct/Resist Peace Officer (X2)

The youth is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on September 4, 2007.
