Vessel in distress GOULAIS TOWNSHIP - Sault Ste. Marie OPP Marine Unit responded to a vessel in distress on Sunday afternoon at approximately 2:30 p.m. near Batchawana Bay. The vessel had four adults and one child on board.

GOULAIS TOWNSHIP -  Sault Ste. Marie OPP Marine Unit responded to a vessel in distress on Sunday afternoon at approximately 2:30 p.m. near Batchawana Bay.

The vessel had four adults and one child on board. The vessel had hit a rock and the motor became disabled. The owner was able to call police with his cell phone.

OPP Marine Unit responded and towed the vessel and occupants safely to shore.

Domestic incident investigated

GOULAIS TOWNSHIP – On Sunday July 13, 2014 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Sault Ste. Marie OPP were called to a residence in Goulais Township regarding a domestic assault.

It is alleged a female was physically assaulted by her spouse.

The female was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of OPP investigation, a 31-year-old male was charged and arrested with two counts of assault, one count of forcible confinement and one count of assault cause bodily harm.

The accused was held in custody pending bail court today at the Ontario Court of Justice, Sault Ste. Marie, ON.

Assault charge laid

GOULAIS TOWNSHIP – Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic incident on Friday July 11, 2014 at approximately 12:15 a.m. in Goulais Township.

It is alleged a male was physically assaulted by his female partner.

Minor injuries were reported.

A female was arrested and charged with one count of assault and released on a promise to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie on August 6, 2014.
