Stolen vehicle On the 19th of January at approximately 5:46 a.m. Sault Ste. Marie OPP responded to a report of a minivan in the ditch on Highway 563 in Fisher Township.

On the 19th of January at approximately 5:46 a.m. Sault Ste. Marie OPP responded to a report of a minivan in the ditch on Highway 563 in Fisher Township.

Upon arrival at the scene police located a blue minivan facing eastbound in the westbound lane partially on the north shoulder.

A lone female occupant was observed in the driver’s seat of the minivan.

As a result of Police investigation it was revealed that the minivan had been stolen from a residence earlier in the evening.

33-year-old Julia Capponi of no-fixed-address was arrested and charged with the following;

  • One count of Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle by Drug contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada;
  • One count of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada;
  • One count of Possession of a Schedule III substance and one count of Possession of a Schedule I substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • One count of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing today.

Male arrested in domestic incident

Sault Ste. Marie OPP were called to respond to a domestic incident at approximately 1:30 a.m. on January 19, 2014.

It is alleged that a 31-year-old male physically assaulted a female causing non-life threatening injuries to the victim.

The male was arrested and charged with one count of Assault, one count of Mischief, and four counts of Breach of Probation contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The male is held in custody pending a bail hearing today.
