MALE ARRESTED AND CHARGED FOR 23 BREAK AND ENTER CHARGES AND MORE (Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP – Elliot Lake arrested and charged a local male. On January 12th, 2008 at approximately 11:33 p.m.
MALE ARRESTED AND CHARGED FOR 23 BREAK AND ENTER CHARGES AND MORE

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) The East Algoma OPP – Elliot Lake arrested and charged a local male.

On January 12th, 2008 at approximately 11:33 p.m. police received a call regarding a possible break and enter in progress. On scene, police entered the residence and located the suspect.

Charged with the following is Donald Wayne JOHNSON (45) of Elliot Lake.

ANOTHER IMPAIRED DRIVER TAKEN OFF THE ROAD

(Garden River, Ont.,) An officer with the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment found another impaired driver over the weekend.

On Sunday 13 January 2008 at about 2:00 a.m. the officer was on patrol of Hwy 17 near the east city limits. He noticed the pick up truck in front of him experiencing difficulty maintaining lane position. He pulled the pick up truck over and the driver exhibited indicators that she had been drinking.

A roadside breathalyzer test indicated the presence of alcohol and the driver was returned to the Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment for further testing. The investigation eventually determined that the driver was over the legal limit to be driving.

Thirty eight (38) year old Deanna JONES of Hwy 17B in Garden River has been charged with Driving While Over the Legal Limit of .08. She is scheduled to appear in court on February 25, 2008.

TWO WEEKEND CRASHES

(Searchmont, Ont.) Sault Ste Marie OPP were called for two non-injury crashes over the entire weekend.

Yesterday at about 6:00 p.m. a pick up truck was traveling westbound on Hwy 556 just west of Searchmont. The pick up rounded a curve in the highway and lost control. The truck went off the roadway and into the ditch. No one was injured in the crash but a tow truck was needed to get the vehicle out of the ditch.

The second crash also happened yesterday at about 6:15 p.m. A car was traveling on Hwy 17 near the Echo River Bridge. The vehicle went off the roadway and into the ditch. No one was injured in this crash and a tow vehicle was needed to get the vehicle back on the roadway.

No charges were laid in either crash.


DID YOU MEET ANYONE WITH HORRIBLE BREATH ON THE WEEKEND ??

(Ranger Lake, Ont.)Someone made their way across Ranger Lake Road on the weekend on someone else gas.

OPP in Sault Ste Marie received two reports of thieves siphoning gas from vehicles parked on Ranger Lake Road. Sometime between Friday night and Sunday afternoon thieves siphoned gas out of two vehicles parked near the Garden Lake Road area near Ranger Lake, north of Sault Ste Marie.

JOINT OPP AND MNR PATROLS

(Batchawana, Ont.) Members of the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit teamed up with MNR Conservation Officers for another year of joint snow machine patrols.

On Saturday and Sunday enforcement officers patrolled the area of Mile 38 Road and other areas in the Batchawana area. Officers checked a total of forty two machines and laid twelve charges. Charges were laid under the Ontario Fishery Regulations, the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act, Liquor Licence Act, Trespassing and the Highway Traffic Act.

Officers also issued eleven warnings under the same acts.

AREA BUSINESSES BROKEN INTO

(Desbarats, Ontario) On January 13, 2008 the East Algoma Thessalon OPP received 2 reports of break and enters in the East Algoma Thessalon area.

At approximately 1:15 p.m. it was reported that a break and enter had occurred between Friday January 11th and Sunday January 13th on Deplonty Road, Desbarats, Ontario at the Northern Quality Meats. Approximately $600.00 worth of meat was stolen. Suspects entered through a window.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. it was reported that a break and enter had occurred between Friday January 11th and Sunday January 13th on Sugarbush Road, Thessalon First Nation, Ontario at the Health Center. A small amount of cash was taken. Suspects entered through a window.
