The Ontario Provincial Police is continuing its investigation into the death of Fernand Gilles Gagnon, 62, of Elliot Lake. Mr. Gagnon was found dead late Saturday afternoon after East Algoma Elliot Lake OPP responded to a request from a family member to check on his well being. He had not been seen or heard from since Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004.

A post mortem conducted yesterday (Feb. 22, 2004) in Sault Ste. Marie was inconclusive as to the cause of death, and further testing will be required. The death is being treated as suspicious and foul play has not been ruled out.

The investigation is continuing by members of the East Algoma Elliot Lake OPP, under the direction of A/Detective Inspector Tim Millar, OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.


TRACTOR TRAILER COLLISION DETOURS TRAFFIC
Harmony Beach, Ont.,

A collision between two tractor trailers on Friday afternoon forced the closure of Hwy 17 north of Sault Ste Marie at Harmony Beach.

On Friday at about 2:30 p.m. one tractor trailer was headed north on Hwy 17 between the two entrances to Harmony Beach. The second trailer on the truck caught the slush and started to fish tail. The trailer then swung into the southbound lane and struck a trailer of a southbound tractor trailer.

The northbound truck lost control and went into the guide rails along side the highway. The highway in this area was closed for several hours and traffic was re routed through the hamlet of Harmony Beach. A minor fuel spill was contained at the scene. One truck had to be towed back to Sault Ste Marie and the second truck was able to drive back.

There were no injuries in this collision and no charges were laid in this investigation.

SNOW PATROLS RESULT IN LIQUOR CHARGES
Havilland Bay, Ont.,

A joint snow machine patrol with the MNR Conservation Officers and the OPP Traffic and Marine Unit resulted in at least three liquor charges for the Traffic and Marine Unit.

Over the weekend the OPP and the MNR patrolled the Havilland Bay area and charged three people with having open liquor. Officers charged 46-year-old Stephen Glazebrook, 51-year-old Patrick McCourt and 32-year-old Theresa Vipond, all of the Goulais River area with having open liquor.


BREAK & ENTER INVESTIGATION COMPLETE
(Elliot Lake, Ont.)

As a result of investigating a series of Break And Enter in the area of Elliot Lake, the OPP have charged the following:

Dale Roger BOYER (30) of Elliot Lake with 3 counts of Break and Enter, Possession of Stolen Property, Fail to Comply with Undertaking, Breach of Probation, Theft Over $5,000 and Careless Use of a Firearm. BOYER remains in custody.

Steven Seldon RAMALHO (19) of Elliot Lake with 3 counts of Break and Enter. RAMALHO is scheduled to appear in court on April 6th, 2004.

Catherine Mary GRESKOW (48) of Elliot Lake with Possession of Stolen Property and Fail to Comply with Undertaking. GRESKOW is scheduled to appear in court on April 6th, 2004.

Curtis DESORMEAUX (18) of Elliot Lake with 2 counts of Break and Enter and Breach of Probation. DESORMEAUX plead guilty and received a 5 months jail sentence.
