Sault Ste. Marie OPP are investigating two separate snow machine thefts over the weekend. On Saturday night a snow machine was stolen from a residence on Highway 17 in the Heyden area. The machine was parked near the owner's home and was not locked or secured in any fashion. When the owner got up in the morning the machine was gone. This person is one of the lucky few because his machine was found. At about 10 a.m. on Sunday morning another Heyden resident called police to inform them that a snow machine was parked near his home and he didn't own a snow machine. This was the same one that was stolen on Saturday night.

The second snow machine theft occurred just north of Searchmount off Witman Dam Road. This machine experienced some mechanical problems and broke down on the trail. When the owner returned to pick up the machine, it was gone. Stolen this time is a 2000 Arctic Cat snow machine.

Sault Ste. Marie OPP and family members of a Sault Ste. Marie man conducted a brief search of the Ranger Lake area
