R.I.D.E. CHECKS PRODUCE "SOBERING" RESULTS
Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.,

The OPP Traffic and Marine Unit as well as Sault Ste Marie OPP detachment members did their best to put a dent in the number of people who were drinking and driving on the weekend.

O.P.P. officers, accompanied by members of the Drinking and Driving Awareness Committee(D.D.A.C.) were all over Sault Ste Marie and the surrounding area all weekend and produced some "sobering" results.

Officers covered the area from Canada Customs through to Goulais River and on the east highways. Throughout the entire weekend officers issued five 12-hour suspensions. Two drivers were caught with liquor readily available in their vehicles.

Two drivers were arrested and charged with impaired driving and as a result now have had their drivers license suspended for 90 days. Forty-nine year old Lorne Boissoneau and thirty-five year old Sandra Boyer, both of the Sault Ste Marie area, now have to answer to impaired driving charges.
