MANITOULIN OPP EXECUTE DRUG SEARCH WARRENT

$39,000 SEIZED IN SUSPECTED MARIHUANA

(Central Manitoulin Township) – On Thursday July 23, 2009 Manitoulin OPP, DES Sudbury, and Wikwemikong Tribal police conducted a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant at a residence on Hwy 542 in Central Manitoulin Township. Total seizure of suspected Marihuana plants and marihuana has an estimated street value of $39000.00. An indoor Marihuana grow operation was discovered.

As a result of this investigation two Manitoulin residents have been charged. They are as follows

(1) Thomas SCHMUTZ age 44 of Hwy 542, Carnarvon, Ontario charged with the following Possession for the Purpose of Cannabis Marihuana under Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. Also one count of Production of Cannabis Marihuana Section 7(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.
(2) Monique HUNSE age 39 of Hwy 542, Carnarvon, Ontario charged with the following Possession for the Purpose of Cannabis Marihuana under Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act. Also one count of Production of Cannabis Marihuana Section 7(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substance Act.

Both subjects have been released and are to appear in Gore Bay Provincial court to answer to the said charges.
