Charges Laid in 2 Weekend Motor Vehicle Crash’s Sault Ste Marie OPP Detachment officers investigated a Motor Vehicle Crash on Hwy#552 E which occurred at 3:00 p.m. on the August 23rd. A Toyota Camray drove off the highway.

Sault Ste Marie OPP Detachment officers investigated a Motor Vehicle Crash on Hwy#552 E which occurred at 3:00 p.m. on the August 23rd. A Toyota Camray drove off the highway. The Driver was not seriously injured. Driver Fatigue is the suspected cause of the crash. Charged with failing to drive in marked lane is Ella Chester agte 29 of 260 Pruce rd. Goulais River.

In a second crash police investigated the collision between a Dodge Dakota pickup and a Volkswagen. The crash occurred at 4:00p.m. at the corner of Hwy#17 and Church st. Three people in the Volkswagen were taken to Sault and Area Hospital with major but non life threatening injuries. The use of seat belts are credited with possibly saving lives in this crash. Charge with Fail to Yield under the Highway traffic is William Christopher Barry age 21 of 709 Peary St Schreiber On.

Thieves Enter Unlocked Vehicles

Sault Ste Marie Detachment officers are investigating 5 cases of thefts from unlocked vehicles which occurred overnight on the 23 and 24th of August. Two vehicles on Gran Street on the Rankin Reserve, two vehicle on Eagle Mine Road in Vankoughnet Twp. And one vehicle on Hwy# 552 E in Fenwick twp. Were entered. Small change, cigarettes were taken from most vehicles. In one of the vehicles on Eagle Mine Rd a pair of binoculars , a Garmin GPS and a pair of running shoes were taken. Visible property and unlocked vehicles are an open invitation to thieves so the police implore you to lock up your vehicles and put valuables out of sight. Very rarely do police have to investigate cases where thieves smash into locked cars, especially when no valuable property is visible.

Mail Boxes Smashed on Olar Rd.

Six mail boxes were smashed overnight on the 22nd of August on the 90 block area of Olar Rd in Van Koughnet Twp. The police are seeking the assistance of the public in solving these senseless acts of vandalism. Anyone with information on these or any crime please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. 53 Year Old Man in Custody for Domestic Assault

A 53 year old Laird twp. Man is in custody and will appear in Bail court Monday morning for an assault on his spouse. The woman received minor injuries in the August 23rs incident. The OPP takes all Domestic assault complaints very seriously and will fully investigate all complaints. Charges are mandatory where police believe the assault took place.
