COLLISION SENDS THREE TO HOSPITAL (Spanish, ON.) – At 6:55 a.m. today East Algoma OPP responded to a three vehicle collision just east of Spanish which resulted in three people being sent to hospital and Highway 17 being closed for about an hour.
COLLISION SENDS THREE TO HOSPITAL
(Spanish, ON.) – At 6:55 a.m. today East Algoma OPP responded to a three vehicle collision just east of Spanish which resulted in three people being sent to hospital and Highway 17 being closed for about an hour. A westbound Honda Civic being operated by a 17 year old male from Webbwood crossed the center line for an unknown reason then collided with an eastbound pickup truck. The Honda then spun around and collided with Dodge van that was also eastbound. With police and ambulance on scene the driver of the westbound car was air lifted to the Sudbury Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the Dodge van were transported to the Espanola hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. The driver of the pick up truck and the two passengers in the westbound car were not injured. The road was a straight section with a passing lane for eastbound traffic. Road and weather conditions were not a factor in this collision. All vehicles suffered major damage and needed to be towed from the scene. At this time no charges have been laid pending the completion of the police investigation.

MALE FACES NUMEROUS CHARGES AFTER FOUND
HIDING IN CAR

(Spanish, ON.) – On Saturday August 21, 2010 at 10:45 p.m. officers from the East Algoma OPP detachment were patrolling the Spanish Marina when they located a group of youths in a parked car consuming alcohol. During the course of their investigation police located a male in the rear of the car hiding under a sweater. When police removed the article of clothing they requested the male identify himself. The male provided police with an incorrect name. Upon further investigation officers learned his real identity, that he was out on bail and was breaching certain conditions of his release. The male was arrested and transported to the Blind River OPP detachment. Charged is 20 year old Jeffrey Edward LAWSON of Algoma Mills. LAWSON is charged with the following criminal offences:
1) Obstructing a peace officer, section 129(a) Criminal Code
2) 3 Counts of Breach of Probation, section 733.1(1) Criminal Code
3) 2 Counts of Failing to Comply with an Undertaking, section 145(3) Criminal Code
LAWSON was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Monday August 23 in Sault Ste Marie.

STOLEN GENERATOR
(Aweres Twp., ON) – A generator was stolen from a chip stand business located in Aweres Township overnight Friday 20, 2010. A chain was cut removing the red 6500 generator from behind the business.

PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY VEHICLE
(Garden River First Nation, ON) – At approximately 10:55 pm yesterday evening three pedestrians were walking on the paved shoulder of the westbound lane of Highway 17B in Garden River First Nation when one of the male pedestrians was stuck by a vehicle. The only description of the vehicle was that it was a 4 door car. The vehicle mirror hit the pedestrian and fell off. The vehicle did not stop. The 15 year old male pedestrian was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The vehicle has not been located.

EXCAVATOR DAMAGED
(Daumont Twp., ON) – On Sunday, 22 August 2010 an excavator left on the side of the side of Vixen Lake road received damaged. Two side windows had been broken by rocks that were thrown in.
