DRIVER ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING (MacDonald, Meredith, et. al., ON) - Friday April 27, 2012 at approximately 1:55 pm a truck travelling on Hurley St. in Echo Bay was pulled over by OPP in a routine traffic stop.

DRIVER ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

(MacDonald, Meredith, et. al., ON) -   Friday April 27, 2012 at approximately 1:55 pm a truck travelling on Hurley St. in Echo Bay was pulled over by OPP in a routine traffic stop.

The driver exhibited signs of alcohol consumption and provided a breath sample into the roadside screening device.

As a result of further investigation, forty-four year old Reginald Thomas WONNACOTT of Elizabeth St. Echo Bay, Ontario was arrested and charged with Operate a motor vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for Provincial Court in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on May 28, 2012.     

VEHICLE STOP LEADS TO IMAIRED DRIVING ARREST

(Prince Twp., ON) On Saturday, April 28, 2012 at approximately 7:20 pm an OPP officer on patrol westbound on Highway 550 in Prince Township observed a vehicle swerving on the roadway.

The brown GMC Jimmy was pulled over.  The driver admitted he had been drinking and  provided a breath sample into the roadside screening device.

As a result of further investigation, fifty year old Michael HARGIS of Second Line West, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, was arrested and charged with Operate Motor Vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for Provincial court in Sault Ste. Marie on May 28, 2012. 

SPEEDING TRACTOR TRAILER LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE

(Aweres Twp., ON)On Saturday, April 28, 2012 at approximately 3:00 pm a Sault Ste. Marie OPP officer  on patrol on Highway 17 north and observed a southbound tractor trailer passing a car coming down the Mile Hill at an excessive rate of speed.

The vehicle was stopped and further investigation revealed that the driver had been consuming alcohol.

The trailer was loaded with a cargo of approximately 20,000 lbs of mail packages.

Sixty-five year old James HOPKINS of Elora, Ontario was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with over 80 milligrams of alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada, Speeding and Having Open Liquor in a motor vehicle.

The accused was released on a Promise to Appear for Provincial Court in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, on May 28, 2012.

BREAK AND ENTER

(WAWA, ON) – On April 27th, 2012 the Ontario Provincial Police Superior East Wawa Detachment were advised of a break and enter that had occurred overnight.  A residence on Second Avenue in Wawa was entered and an undisclosed amount of money was stolen.  OPP continue to investigate this matter.  Anyone with any information is requested to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.

MULTIPLE CHARGES LAID IN DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE

(WHITE RIVER, ON) – During the early hours of April 28th, 2012 Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Officers were called to an assault complaint on Elgin Street in White River, Ontario.  As a result of OPP investigation a 19 year old male from White River was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences;

  1. Assault
  2. Criminal Harassment
  3. Mischief Under $5,000
  4. Unlawfully in a Dwelling House

The accused has been held for bail court in Sault Ste Marie and to appear on Monday April 30, 2012.  The name of the accused has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim in this matter.

THEFT OF BOAT MOTOR

(DUBREUILVILLE, ON) – On April 29th, 2012 Ontario Provincial Police Superior East Detachment were advised of a theft of a boat motor in Dubreuilville.  The boat had been docked on the Magpie River and was last seen by its owner on April 26th.  The motor is described as a new Mercury four stroke 2.5 HP motor and is valued at $1,100.  Anyone with any information is requested to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers.
