Officers from the Batchewana First Nation Police Service were on patrol duties in Batchewana First Nation July 11 when they observed an open door at a residence on Gran Street, according to a news release.
Police visited the address two unknown people. While speaking to police, an officer observed a person known to police who was attempting to sneak out the back door. Police made an arrest and while searching the suspect officers found a small amount of suspect methamphetamine, the release said.
Christopher Hill, 29, from Batchewana First Nation was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance - methamphetamine, the release said.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on Aug. 28.
