The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance at a local tavern in the Town of Thessalon on Sunday at approximately 1:50 a.m.
Police said an individual had been kicked out of the tavern and was banging on the door. While officers were making their way to the establishment, the person broke the glass on the door and was attempting to re-enter the premises, and then the individual left.
At approximately 2:10 a.m., police located and arrested a person on Main Street, who they said was intoxicated. The accused was transported to Thessalon detachment and was lodged until sober.
While lodged, the accused urinated on the cell floor and wiped nasal mucus on the walls, police said.
As a result, Gunnar Sales, 25 years of age from Otterville, was charged with:
- Mischief - destroys or damages property - two counts
- Being intoxicated in a public place
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Dec. 5.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
