A Goulais River man faces criminal charges after police say he threatened to shoot a neighbour's dogs and then "approached" the neighbour in question while holding a firearm.

Officers from Sault Ste. Marie OPP responded to a weapons call at a Robertson Lake Road address shortly after 11 p.m. on Nov. 8.

As a result of this investigation, 31-year-old Jason Hampleman was arrested and charged with:

    •    Uttering threats - injure animal
    •    Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
    •    Unauthorized possession of a firearm
    •    Failure to comply with release order

Hampleman was held for a bail hearing, and remanded into custody.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
