On Monday Oct. 30, 2017 at approximately 2:30 p.m., an officer from Barrie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police initiated a traffic stop on Highway 400 near Horseshoe Valley Road in Springwater Township.
The 2017 Black Ford F150 pickup truck was observed traveling at 137 km/hr in the 100km/hr zone. However, after investigation the driver and passenger were arrested and charged for several drug and gun related offences. Two handguns, one long gun, a quantity of drugs and $37,000 in cash were seized.
Stephen Stadnik, 29 years old, and Justin Fabbro, 34 years old, both of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. have been charged with the following:
- Firearm - use while committing an offence
- Transport firearm in a careless manner
- Possession property obtained by crime
- Unauthorized possession of firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a weapon or ammunition possession of loaded firearm
- Possession of ammunition
- Possession of Cannabis Marijuana - under 30 grams
- Traffic in methamphetamines
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
All of these are contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. Both accused males are being held for bail hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
