Highway 17 is closed to traffic from Trunk Road in Sault Ste. Marie to Kensington Point Road in Desbarats.
The closure is due to icy road conditions.
There is currently an Environment Canada winter weather travel advisory in effect for the region until Thursday afternoon.
The City of Sault Ste. Marie has also declared a significant weather event as temperatures are expected to drop rapidly below the freezing mark, says a news release from the city.
