Heyden man faces criminal harassment charges following threats complaint

HEYDEN - On June 01, 2020, members of the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded to a threats complaint in Heyden.

As a result of the investigation, on June 2, 2020, the accused was arrested by OPP at their residence.

John Wigle, 59 years-old, of Heyden was arrested and is charged with:

  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Criminal harassment - threatening conduct, contrary to section 264(2)(d) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Mischief - destroys or damages property under $5000.00, contrary to section 430(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)    

The accused is being held for bail court.
