MISSING BOATER LOCATED

(Blind River, ON.) The search continued today for the local man whose boat capsized yesterday on the Mississaugi River west of Blind River. The water flow was restricted by Mississaugi Power to assist in the search. A Marine Unit from the East Algoma OPP detachment along with volunteers from the Blind River Fire Department conducted shoreline searches of the river while an OPP helicopter attended and provided an aerial search, all with negative results. The Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) of the OPP arrived and were successful in recovering the body of the deceased male. Deceased is 61 year old Zvonko HOZJAN of Huron Shores. The USRU also located the boat but it remains at the bottom of the river. They were unsuccessful in locating the dog which is presumed to have drowned.

Police want to remind boaters to be very careful around fast running water and waterfalls. Fast current can be extremely dangerous even to an experienced boater.
