CAR THIEF THAT CAN’T DRIVE

(Laird Twp, Ont.) Sault Ste Marie OPP took on man into custody yesterday after he crashed a stolen vehicle twice.

Yesterday at about 2:00 p.m. the accused stole a vehicle from a home on Rydall Mill Road in Laird Twp. While he was leaving the area he rear ended a vehicle at the intersection of Hwy 17 and Neebish Road. The stolen vehicle went into the ditch after the impact but was able to drive out. He fled the scene down Neebish Road and onto Finns Bay Road.

What he didn’t know was Finns Bay Road is a dead end and there is now way to get back onto the highway. In this case it didn’t matter because part way down Finn’s Bay Road the thief rolled the stolen vehicle into the ditch and because it was on its side, he wasn’t driving away from his second crash.

With the help of a local resident on Finn’s Bay Road the accused was located and turned over to police.

Twenty one (21) year old Todd Justine TREALOUT, of no fixed address will appear in bail court this morning. He is charged with Theft Under $5000.00, Possession of Stolen Property, Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident and Fail to Comply With an Undertaking. He will appear in Bail Court this morning.

DON’T COME TO COURT DRINKING

(Sault Ste Marie, Ont.) An OPP officer attending court yesterday arrested the accused before his trail because he showed up at court drinking.

A Sault Ste Marie man was in court scheduled to start a trial yesterday. In conversations with a police officer and the crown attorney it was quite obvious that the man had been drinking. One of the release conditions on previous charges was that the man abstain from alcohol.

He was arrested and taken down to the basement cells to await yet another court appearance in bail court.

Thirty–nine year old Daniel MCDOOLING of Malabar Drive in Sault Ste Marie is charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.
