DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE…. PLAN AHEAD!
(Elliot Lake, Ontario) – On Thursday, May 3, 2012 at approximately 2:30 a.m. an officer of the East Algoma OPP was on general patrol and conducted a traffic stop on Hillside Drive North.
The officer spoke with the lone driver and investigation revealed that the driver had consumed alcohol.
Charged with the following is Thomas BAYFORD (65) of Elliot Lake.
- Impaired Operation
- Exceed 80
The accused is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on June 5, 2012.

DRUG INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN ARRESTS
(Spanish) – On May 3rd, 2012, members of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Sudbury Drug Enforcement Unit in partnership with the United Chiefs and Council of Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police Service, the Manitoulin Island Detachment of the OPP and the East Algoma Detachment of the OPP executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant on a residence in the Town of Spanish.
As a result of this investigation 197 marihuana plants and five pounds of marihuana was seized. Two people were arrested during the course of this investigation and have been charged with various drug related offences. Catherine HILSON was released from custody and will appear in court on June 7th, 2012. John HILSON was held pending his bail hearing on the 4th of May 2012.
The street value of the drugs seized is $33,115.00.

UTTER THREAT CHARGE LAID
(WAWA, ON) – On May 3rd, 2012 the Ontario Provincial Police Superior East Wawa Detachment responded to a domestic disturbance complaint. As a result of the investigation a 38 year old local male was arrested and charged with following offences;
- Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
- Fail to Comply with Undertaking before an Officer in Charge – 2 counts
The accused has been transported to Sault Ste Marie to appear in Bail Court this date. No names will be released in this matter in order to protect the identity of the victim.
