(Goulais River, Ont.) Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating the theft of an ATV from a home in Goulais River.

Sometime during Wednesday night and Thursday morning thieves came onto the property of a home in the 500 area of Hwy 552 East in Goulais River. The homeowner had an ATV parked in the driveway near the garage. Thieves then loaded the ATV onto a pickup truck and left the area.

Stolen is a red 1987 Suzuki ATV. The owner advises police that the machine had two flat tires and damaged fenders. If someone in your neighbourhood has arrived home with an ATV matching this description, call Crime Stoppers or the police. The owner would like to get his ATV back.

TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT FINDS THREE SUSPENDED DRIVERS

(Goulais River Ont.) Over the past 24 hours patrol officers with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the OPP found three people driving when their licences were suspended.

Yesterday at about 1:00 p.m. officers pulled a vehicle over on Hwy 17 in Goulais River. The officer discovered that the driver knew his licence was suspended. The driver also had the wrong plates on the vehicle and he had no insurance on the truck.

Thirty (30) year old Corey MARSHALL of Cambridge Place in Sault Ste Marie now faces three charges. He is charged with Driving Under Suspension and Using Plates Not Authorized for the Vehicle Contrary to the Highway Traffic Act Of Ontario. He is also charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle With No Insurance Contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

If Mr. Marshall is convicted of just the No Insurance charge he will face a MINIMUM fine of $5000.00.

At about 2:00 a.m. this morning another officer checked a vehicle on Hwy 17 in the area of the Mile Hill. This driver also knew he was driving when his licence was suspended. Twenty five (25) year old James WILLISON of Second Line West in Sault Ste Marie has been charged with Driving While Under Suspension.

And at about 5:00 a.m. this morning a vehicle was stopped on Hwy 17 again. This driver, like the others, knew his licence was suspended. Twenty two (22) year old Naparstak ASSAF of Drewery Ave in Toronto will be asked back to Sault Ste Marie Provincial Offences Court to offer any possible explanation why he was driving while his licence was suspended.
