(Aweres Twp., ON) – A fire to a mobile home at Beaumont Trailer Park in Aweres Township on Wednesday 24 March that had flared up again yesterday morning caused further damage.

A shed belonging to another homeowner on the property adjacent to the fire also burned down. The shed was full of tools.

The owner of the mobile home that burned down where several pets perished had no insurance on the residence or its contents.

The investigation is complete. The cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature.

TWO HANDGUNS STOLEN FROM RESIDENCE

(Meredith Twp., ON) – A residence in the 8000 block of Highway 638 in Meredith Township was broken into sometime between 1:00 pm and 3:30 pm on Wednesday 24 March 2010, and noticed by the owner yesterday. Entry was gained through a window.

Stolen items included a 9 mm Browning high-powered semi automatic handgun; one .357 magnum silver chrome single action handgun; one 6 inch Japanese style cold steel tanto knife; a BB gun (hand gun style) with top loading for the bb’s; one full box of .22 calibre ammunition.

VEHICLE STOP LEADS TO DRUG CHARGES

(Aweres Twp., ON) – On the 25 March an OPP officer observed a black Volkswagen Golf travelling northbound on Highway 17 near Trout Lake Road with no licence plate.

The vehicle was pulled over and subsequent investigation lead to the arrest of a 15 year old male passenger from Fenwick Township for Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

It is alleged the accused had in his possession drug paraphernalia and a small quantity of a green leafy substance suspected to be Cannabis – Marijuana.

The youth was later released on a Promise to Appear for court on May 4, 2010.

The driver of the vehicle, 19 year old Paul Archibald of Hiltz Road in Aweres Township was charged with the following; Drive Motor Vehicle – No Plate; Class G1-unaccompanied by Qualified Driver contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario; and Operate a motor vehicle without insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act of Ontario.

HOUSE FIRE VICTIM POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED

(Fenwick Twp., ON) – The victim of a house fire at 156 Bye’s Side Road in Fenwick Township on the 25 February, 2010 has been positively identified.

The deceased, 43 year old Siegfried ALSCH, was identified through DNA analysis conducted at the Northern Forensic Laboratory in Sault Ste. Marie.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined. No foul play is suspected.
