The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has received a complaint that while an elementary school student was making her way home a suspicious vehicle, with 2 male occupants attempted to persuade the student into their vehicle.

This incident is reported to have taken place in the “P” patch area of the city. The vehicle is described as a silver colour, older style pick up truck. There may also be a set of “fuzzy dice” hanging from the rear view mirror. The only description of the 2 males is that they are believed to be in their late teens.

The occupants of the vehicle advised the student that there was a family emergency and that her parents had sent them to pick her up. The student immediately made her way home without accepting the ride and notified her parents about the incident.

Parents are reminded to educate their children about these types of incidents. If they do not know the person who approaches them they are to decline any offer, get to a place of safety and notify an adult.

This Investigation Services Branch of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is continuing to investigate this incident.

Anyone with any information regarding this suspicious activity is asked to call the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300.
