OPP UPDATE KOCHAR INVESTIGATION

(Burwash Twp., Ont.) On Tuesday, December 27th 2005) officers from the Sudbury detachment attended at a bush area off of Trout Lake Road in Burwash Township after hunters discovered human remains in the area. A command post that has been set up at this location will be removed today.

A post mortem examination was conducted on the remains on Thursday Dec. 29, 2005, and was positively identified as Davinder (Daphne) KOCHAR, of Sudbury. KOCHAR was reported missing to the Greater Sudbury Police on November 6, 2005. Further forensic examination will be required to determine the cause of death. Investigators are treating this death as suspicious. The remains will be released to the family today.

The investigation is continuing by officers from the Greater Sudbury Police, and the North East Region OPP Crime Unit.
