COYOTES OBSERVED IN TOWN OF THESSALON

(Thessalon, Ontario) On Thursday January 10, 2008 it was reported to the East Algoma Thessalon OPP that coyotes have been observed prowling within the Town of Thessalon.

On two different occasions the coyotes have been observed. The first occurrence involved a small puppy being grabbed from outside a residence on River Road. The owner heard the puppy yelping and was able to scare the coyotes away after the puppy was dropped. The puppy required stitches to the face area. On the second occurrence coyotes were observed in the Boyle Street area by a woman out walking with her dog at 5:00 a.m. in the morning. The woman was able to scare the coyotes away.

The OPP want the public to be aware of the presence of the coyotes in town and advise the public to call the MNR (Ministry of Natural Resources) at 1-705-356-2234 if you observe the coyotes or the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 if it is a serious occurrence like the puppy being grabbed.

SO FAR—SO GOOD

(Sault Ste Marie, Ont.) Sault Ste Marie OPP experienced another 24 hours of routine and non-eventful policing calls. Heavy snow fall in the area has produced tricky driving conditions. So far there are no reports of any crashes or vehicles in the ditch.

Once again, if drivers just learned to lift their right leg and foot off the accelerator just a centimeter or two, it could save them the trouble and aggravation of going into the ditch or having a crash.
