FURTHER DELAYS EXPECTED - HIGHWAY 69

(Sudbury) – As a result of a fatal motor vehicle collision on February 6th, 2008 on Highway 69, Servos Township (2 kilometres north of Highway 637 - Killarney turnoff), motorists can expect more delays at this location tomorrow (Friday, February 8th, 2008).

Investigators from the Ministry of Environment are returning to the scene at 8:00 a.m. to continue the environmental clean-up due to a diesel spill, which should last all day. As a result, OPP officers need to close the southbound shoulder lane only which will allow southbound motorists to use the passing lane portion in order to get by the scene. Traffic will be moving slowly in both direction of travel throughout the day.

Drivers are asked to exercise caution when travelling through at this location as officers will be out directing traffic and crews will be busy working.

LET SOMEONE KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING…..

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) When planning a trip with your snowmachine, please ensure someone has your itinerary and always stick to your plans.

The OPP and S.T.O.P. will be patrolling the trails this weekend and would like to remind all snowmobile drivers to always carry their driver’s licence, proof of insurance and ownership for the snowmachine.

When traveling on any OFSC trails, a valid trail permit is required.
