Hawk Junction, Ont., Superior East OPP now advise that THREE people have been taken to hospital in Wawa from a truck and train crash this afternoon.

Reports from the scene are indicating that one employee on the train and two occupants of the logging truck have been taken to Lady Dunn Hospital in Wawa. One of the injured parties is being prepared to be airlifted out of Wawa

Indications are that the train was north bound at the time of the crash. There are four passengers on the train. At this time none of the passengers are reported to be injured.

The railway crossing does have signaling devices. OPP advised that Hwy 101 remains closed at the crash site and that there is no detour around the scene. The load of logs that the transport was carrying has spilled onto the highway. An OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator has been sent to the scene.

Reports Of Injuries in Truck-Train Collision

Hawk Junction, Ont., Members of the Wawa office of the Superior East OPP Detachment are investigating a train and truck collision about on the about 15 kilometers northeast of Wawa near Hawk Junction.

Preliminary reports from the scene are indicating that at about 2:30 p.m. this afternoon a loaded logging truck traveling on Hwy 101 struck the last car of a passenger train. Ambulances have been called to the scene and so far reports are indicating that two people are being taken to Hospital. One car from the train is reported to off the tracks and on its side.

Hwy 101 is closed just northeast of Hawk Junction and OPP expect the closure to last for sometime.

No Significant Update on Batchewana Robbery

Officers with the Batchewana First Nation Police are continuing their investigation into the second armed robbery at a gas bar in the community.

Late Wednesday evening two knife wielding men enter the gas bar and robbed the business of cash and cigarettes. Officers with the First Nation Police, the OPP and the Sault Ste Marie City Police are continuing to work closely with each other with the series of armed robberies that have occurred in the communities over the past month. Any significant updates will be issued as they happen.

Another Routine Day For Sault OPP

Over the past 24 hours Sault Ste Marie OPP answered calls pertaining to unwanted party goers still in each others homes, family and marital disputes, dogs wandering loose, traffic complaints, false alarms and harassing phone calls. None of these calls generated any charges or arrests.
