OPP Upgrade Charge to Second Degree Murder (Elliot Lake, Ont.) The charge of manslaughter against David Anderson, 45, of Elliot Lake, in connection with the death of Kenneth Doskas, 33, has now been upgraded to second degree murder.

The charge of manslaughter against David Anderson, 45, of Elliot Lake, in connection with the death of Kenneth Doskas, 33, has now been upgraded to second degree murder.

Members of the East Algoma OPP had originally arrested and charged the accused with manslaughter Feb. 9, however, further extensive investigation has resulted in the upgrade.

The charges relate to an incident on Feb. 7 in which the deceased was injured in an altercation at a private residence. Kenneth Doskas died Feb. 9 as a result of injuries sustained during the altercation.

David Anderson remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Court on March 2, 2004 in Elliot Lake.

The investigation is continuing under the direction of Detective Inspector Bob Lemieux of the Criminal Investigation Branch in Orillia.


Intoxication draws Attention And Night in Custody
(Blind River, Ont.)

Just before 8:00 p.m. yesterday, a person was seen in the parking lot near the Bus depot exhibiting signs of being intoxicated. Police were called and when officers spoke to the individual they also noted signs of impairment. When the officers checked the person on the Police computer they found that he had been previously released on other offences. Part of his conditions was that he was not to consume alcohol.

Police have charged 39-year-old Warren David Gingras of Michipicoten First Nation Territory with being intoxicated in a Public place and Breach of an Undertaking. He is to appear in court on 01 April 2004.


Snowmobile Theft
(Elliot Lake, Ont.)

On February 22nd the East Algoma OPP received a report of a stolen snowmobile. An investigation revealed that a purple 1997 Skidoo Formula Z 583 was taken from a local business. The snowmobile went missing sometime between the evening of February 20 and the morning of February 21st. Other identifying details are a white “FOX” racing sticker on the front windshield along with yellow and red check running up the sides.
