ONE PERSON CHARGED WITH BREAK AND ENTER

(Blind River, ON.) – On Wednesday August 26, 2009 at approximately 7:40 a.m. the East Algoma OPP were dispatched to a Break and Enter to the Ministry of Natural Resources building located on Queen Street, Blind River, Ontario.

Electronic Equipment including cameras, video cameras, a television, and computers valued at approximately $15,000 was stolen in the break and enter.

On Thursday August 27, 2009, one Young Person (male, 17 years old) was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

Break and Enter, Section 348(1) (b) and
Possession of Stolen Property Obtained by Crime over $5000, Section 354(1) (a)

All of the stolen property was recovered.

The Young Person is scheduled to appear in Bail Court in Sault Ste. Marie today.

VANDALISM TO LAIRD CENTRAL SCHOOL

(Laird Twp., ON) – Vandalism to Laird Public School was reported yesterday morning to Police.

There were several screens and frames ripped off school windows and broken bottles smashed all over the ground.

OPP MAKE DRUG SEIZURE IN DUBREUILVILLE

(DUBREUILVILLE, ON.) – On the 26th August the Superior East OPP, Wawa conducted an investigation relating to illicit drugs in the Town of Dubreuilville.
OPP were assisted by the Joint Forces Drug Unit when they executed a search warrant at a residence on Rue Des Noisette. A Marijuana grow-operation was discovered and plants with a street value of $14,000.00 were seized along with the grow-op equipment.
The investigation is continuing and an arrest will be forthcoming.

1ST DAY OF HEMPFEST NETS SEVERAL CHARGES

(Poplar Dale Road, Aberdeen Township, ON.) – On Thursday August 27, 2009, members of the Ontario Provincial Police set up on Poplar Dale Road in Aberdeen Township to conduct RIDE checks.

Approximately 300 motor vehicles were checked.

Results

• 6 Roadside Alcotests were conducted which resulted in 2 drivers being given 3 day driving suspensions
• 1 driver was charged with Impaired Driving by Drug
• 10 charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act
• 8 charges were laid under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
• 1 male was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Sault Ste. Marie Police Service
• 1 Unsafe motor vehicle was removed from the highway
