Update on CASS Threats (Desbarats, Ontario) On April 23, 2009 at approximately 12:25 hours the East Algoma OPP were advised of a threat towards Central Algoma Secondary School. Police have concluded their investigation into the threats.

(Desbarats, Ontario) On April 23, 2009 at approximately 12:25 hours the East Algoma OPP were advised of a threat towards Central Algoma Secondary School.

Police have concluded their investigation into the threats. The threats were unfounded.

The individual has been released and no criminal charges will be laid.

ROAD CLOSURES END - ONE MALE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

(Tarbutt Township, Ontario) On Thursday April 23, 2009 at approximately 4:30 p.m., the East Algoma OPP was called to a home in Tarbutt Township, Ontario.

After a night of police presence one male was taken into custody without incident.

Six families in the immediate area had been evacuated overnight and are now allowed to return to their residences.

The road closures have now been taken down.

Criminal Charges are not pending and the name of the person will not be released.

UPDATE: ROAD CLOSURE STILL IN EFFECT

(Tarbutt Township, Ontario) On April 23, 2009 at approximately 4:30 p.m. the East Algoma OPP received a call involving a residence located in Tarbutt Township, Ontario.

As a result;

Portions of Government Road remain closed to traffic.

The buses that travel through this route to Central Algoma Secondary School and Johnson Tarbutt Central School will have to take a detour around the road closure.

The Ontario Provincial Police advise that there is no danger to the public.

Further information will be provided as it becomes available.

Road Closure Advisory

(Tarbutt Township, Ontario)

On April 23, 2009 at approximately 4:30 p.m. the East Algoma OPP received a call involving a residence on MacLennan Road, Tarbutt Township, Ontario.

As a result;

MacLennan Road North from Birch Street to North of Government Road (approximately 200 metres) and

Government Road from the Barr Road Junction to McKnight Junction have been closed due to a Police situation.

Access is available to those residents living in the Birch Hill Subdivision.
