Four people are facing charges after suspected fentanyl was seized during a traffic stop in Elliot Lake Tuesday.
Ontario Provincial Police pulled the vehicle over on Ottawa Avenue at around 12:45 p.m. after officers recognized someone they say was wanted on outstanding charges.
“The person was uncooperative with police, resisting arrest, assaultive, and attempted to disarm an officer,” alleged OPP in a news release.
All four people in the vehicle were arrested and officers say they found approximately 43 grams of suspected fentanyl, which has an approximate street value of $10,900.
Corey Higdon, 50, of Elliot Lake, was charged with:
- Resist Peace Officer
- Assault with intent to resist arrest
- Attempt to disarm Peace Officer
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
- Assault
- Failure to comply with release order - two counts
- Assault with a weapon
- Forcible confinement
The accused is scheduled to appear in a Blind River Court today.
In addition, Mitchell Gentile, 35, of Elliot Lake was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid
- Possession of a Schedule I substance - opioid.
And Krystal Rol, 35, and Jennifer Stubbert, 43, both of Elliot Lake, were charged with Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
