Family dispute leads to assault, weapons charges for Wawa resident

Accused is scheduled to appear in court in March

A 23-year-old from Wawa faces assault and weapons charges after officers responded to a family dispute call late yesterday afternoon, states a release issued by the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

Full text of the OPP release follows:

WAWA - On Feb. 1, 2022, at approximately 4:55 p.m., members of the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute on Michipicoten First Nation.

As a result of the investigation, Krista Stone, 23 years of age of Wawa, was arrested and charged with the following:  
    •    possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code (CC),
    •    assault with a weapon, contrary to section 267(a) of the CC,
    •    uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC, and
    •    mischief, contrary to section 430(4) of the CC.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on March 7, 2022 in Wawa.
