Driver sent to hospital following two-vehicle collision near Goulais

One vehicle rolled over into the grass along Highway 17 on Saturday afternoon; driver of other vehicle was charged with failing to signal

One person was hospitalized and another was charged following a two-vehicle collision several minutes north of Goulais River this afternoon.

According to Superior East OPP spokesperson Cst. Ashley Nickle, a Sault Ste. Marie OPP officer was doing general patrol when they came across the incident around 4:30 p.m.

The collision caused a vehicle to roll over into the grass along Highway 17 just outside the entrance of the Waste Management Facility near Havilland.

The driver of that vehicle was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Nickle.

Meanwhile, the driver of the other vehicle was charged with "Turn Not in Safety" contrary to s. 142 of the Highway Traffic Act (failing to signal).

Goulais Fire, EMS, and OPP responded to the incident.

Traffic is moving in both directions.
