Domestic disputes lead to charges in Wawa

A 50-year-old Wawa resident faces charges after an incident that occurred last week, Superior East OPP said in a news release issued today. 

Police say they responded to a call around 11:15 p.m. on Friday of a domestic dispute on Mission Road in Wawa.   

As a result of the investigation, a 50-year-old person, from Wawa, was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence, contrary to section 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC (Two Counts).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in April 2022, in Wawa.

Also, a 32-year-old has been arrested after a domestic dispute was reported on February 19 in Wawa, a news release issued by the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stated.

Full text of the release follows:

WAWA, ON - On February 19, 2022, at approximately 3:55 a.m., members of the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Hillcrest Avenue in Wawa. 

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old person, from Wawa, was arrested and charged with the following: 

  • Assault with a Weapon - Spousal, contrary to section 267(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Forcible Confinement, contrary to section 279(2) of the CC, and
  • Attempt Obstruct Justice, contrary to section 139(2) of the CC.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in March 2022, in Wawa.
