Collision leads to charge

A motor vehicle collision has led to a man facing a charge under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario

MACDONALD-MEREDITH-ABERDEEN ADDITIONAL TOWNSHIP - At approximately 11:30 a.m. on July 8, 2017 Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a motor vehicle collision involving a truck and car at the intersection of Highway 638 and Highway 17.  

A car was travelling southbound on Highway 17 when a truck travelling westbound on Highway 638 failed to yield at the yield sign crossing and struck the car.

Both the driver and passenger of the car were transported to hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles had to be towed.

The driver of the truck, Rodney A Jarrett, 61-years-old, of Echo Bay, Ont. was charged with fail to yield - yield sign contrary to section 138(1) of the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
