Careless driving charge laid in crash with snowbank east of the Sault

One person is facing multiple charges, including careless driving, in a crash east of Sault Ste. Marie last week.

Ontario Provincial Police say when officers arrived at the single-vehicle crash on Highway 17B in Garden River First Nation they found a heavily damaged pickup truck partially in the snowbank.      

Anthony Robinson, 36, of Batchewana First Nation has been charged with:

  • Refusal to comply with demand
  • Careless driving
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

In addition, the accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for a week.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
