A Blind River man is facing multiple charges after he was arrested for public drunkenness — then peed on the floor and wall of his jail cell.

OPP say the incident began at approximately 11 p.m. on Dec. 18, when officers “responded to a report of an intoxicated person who had passed out at a table with a bottle of alcohol at a local coffee shop on Causley Street in Blind River.”

When police arrived, they say they spotted the suspect walking away from the restaurant. He was arrested and taken to the Blind River detachment.

“While in custody, the individual became belligerent, urinated on the floor and walls, and later stuffed their shirt into the cell toilet, splashing toilet water throughout the cell,” the OPP states in a news release.

Gerry Dickinson, 19, is charged with mischief under $5,000, failure to comply with undertaking and being intoxicated in a public place.

He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Feb. 6, 2025.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Dickinson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
