A 35-year-old Thessalon man is facing charges after members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a disturbance at a business on Main Street in Thessalon.

On July 13, 2020, at approximately 10:30 a.m. police say there was an altercation between two people while inside the store. One person was upset at another from something that occurred in the past and proceeded to yell obscenities at them. The altercation became more serious when that person assaulted the other.

Police later arrested and charged Mark Vasey with:

  • Assault, contrary to section 266 of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Causing a disturbance, contrary to section 175(1)(a) of the CC.

Vasey is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River, Ontario on Sept. 3, 2020.
