Environment Canada has issued a tornado watch for parts of eastern Ontario today.
The impacted area stretches from Kingston to the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
Tornado watches are issued when forecasters see weather conditions that have the potential to produce tornadoes.
Environment Canada says strong winds, large hail and heavy rain are also possible, while the threat of tornadoes should end by late afternoon.
Severe thunderstorm warnings have also been issued for Smiths Falls, Perth, Silver Lake Provincial Park and Lanark County.
Emergency Management Ontario recommends taking cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
